Here is something most Tampa studios cannot offer: we do both laser and electrolysis under one roof, so we will always steer you toward whatever genuinely works for your hair.

This matters more on the upper lip than almost anywhere else. Laser is the fast, efficient choice for darker lip hair. But a lot of upper lip hair is fine, light, or peach-fuzz colored, and a laser physically cannot see white, grey, red, and light blonde hair. Electrolysis targets those hairs directly and is the only FDA-approved method for truly permanent removal. For many clients, a mix of both is what finally clears the area for good.

Laser Hair Removal for All Skin Tones

Plenty of people have been told they are “not a candidate” for laser hair removal because of their skin tone. That is outdated information. At our Tampa studio we run two laser systems so we can safely and effectively treat the full range of skin tones.

The Alexandrite laser (755nm) is ideal for lighter skin with darker hair. It works quickly and is a great fit for Fitzpatrick skin types I through III.

The Nd:YAG laser (1064nm) penetrates deeper and bypasses the surface layers of the skin, which makes it safe for darker and melanin-rich skin tones (types IV through VI). It is also gentle enough for sensitive facial areas like the lip.

How UPPER LIP Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal targets the pigment inside the hair follicle with light. The energy is absorbed, the follicle is disabled, and over a series of sessions the hair grows back finer and more sparse until most of it stops returning at all.

Because hair grows in cycles, the laser only affects follicles that are in their active growth phase on the day of treatment. That is why a course of sessions spaced a few weeks apart delivers the best result. Upper lip hair is often influenced by hormones, so we map out a realistic plan for your specific situation during your consultation.

What to Expect

Lip sessions are quick, often just a few minutes since the area is small. Most clients describe the sensation as a light snap or a warm pinch. There is no downtime, so you can head straight back to work or on with your day.

After lapsing on my Laser Hair treatment for about two years I finally had enough growth to where I was really getting bothered by the stubble again. Unfortunately, I had moved away from my usual technician in Georgia and that was part of the reason why I put it off for so long, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to find someone who knew what they were doing and had a machine that would work as well as my previous one. If you are considering getting a tattoo in the near future I highly recommend taking advantage of Laser Affair’s services in the area you want to get it! You are unable to do so after the fact, and not having any hair to dull the tattoo makes a huge difference. My treatments got rid of unwanted hair in minimal sessions, and Laser Affair’s staff were very accommodating and are wonderful people. I can’t recommend their services enough!!

Does upper lip laser hair removal hurt?

Most clients feel a quick, warm snap rather than real pain. The lip can be a little more sensitive than the body, but the area is small, so sessions are over fast and our technicians adjust settings to keep you comfortable.

How many sessions will I need?

It varies with your hair type, skin tone, and whether the growth is hormonal, but most people need a series of sessions spaced a few weeks apart to see lasting results. We give you a realistic estimate at your consultation.

What if my lip hair is light or fine?

This is common, and it is exactly where electrolysis shines. A laser cannot target white, grey, red, or light blonde hair, so we may recommend electrolysis for those hairs to fully clear the area.

Can I wear makeup right after my session?

We recommend arriving with a clean, makeup-free face and giving your skin a little time to settle afterward. Your technician will share simple aftercare steps at your visit.
