Laser Hair Removal for All Skin Tones

Plenty of people have been told they are “not a candidate” for laser hair removal because of their skin tone. That is outdated information. At our Tampa studio we run two laser systems so we can safely and effectively treat the full range of skin tones.

The Alexandrite laser (755nm) is ideal for lighter skin with darker hair. It works quickly and is a great fit for Fitzpatrick skin types I through III.

The Nd:YAG laser (1064nm) penetrates deeper and bypasses the surface layers of the skin, which makes it safe for darker and melanin-rich skin tones (types IV through VI). It is also gentle on coarse hair, which makes it a strong choice for underarms.

How Underarm Laser Hair Removal Works

Laser hair removal targets the pigment inside the hair follicle with light. The energy is absorbed, the follicle is disabled, and over a series of sessions the hair grows back finer and more sparse until most of it stops returning at all.

Because hair grows in cycles, the laser only affects follicles that are in their active growth phase on the day of treatment. That is why a course of sessions spaced a few weeks apart delivers the best result. Underarm hair tends to be coarse and pigmented, which is exactly what the laser targets best, so many clients are happy with how quickly the area responds.

What to Expect

After lapsing on my Laser Hair treatment for about two years I finally had enough growth to where I was really getting bothered by the stubble again. Unfortunately, I had moved away from my usual technician in Georgia and that was part of the reason why I put it off for so long, I wasn’t sure if I would be able to find someone who knew what they were doing and had a machine that would work as well as my previous one. If you are considering getting a tattoo in the near future I highly recommend taking advantage of Laser Affair’s services in the area you want to get it! You are unable to do so after the fact, and not having any hair to dull the tattoo makes a huge difference. My treatments got rid of unwanted hair in minimal sessions, and Laser Affair’s staff were very accommodating and are wonderful people. I can’t recommend their services enough!!
