Alexandrite Laser
The Alexandrite laser is highly effective for targeting hair follicles in lighter skin types (typically Fitzpatrick skin types I-III). This laser emits a 755nm wavelength, which is ideal for absorbing melanin in hair, allowing for precise and targeted hair removal. Alexandrite lasers work by producing a concentrated beam of light absorbed by the pigment in the hair shaft, effectively disabling the follicle’s ability to regrow. This laser operates at a high pulse speed, covering large areas quickly, making it an efficient choice for areas such as the legs, back, or arms.
The Alexandrite laser is generally not recommended for darker skin tones, as the higher melanin content can absorb the laser’s energy. However, for those with lighter skin and darker hair, Alexandrite offers one of the most efficient and effective solutions for long-term hair reduction!
Nd:Yag Laser
The Nd:Yag laser uses a 1064nm wavelength, which penetrates deeper into the skin layers than Alexandrite, making it a versatile option suitable for all skin types, including darker tones (Fitzpatrick types IV-VI). This laser minimizes the risk of skin damage for people with higher melanin content by bypassing the surface layers and targeting the hair follicle directly.
This laser is especially beneficial for coarse hair and can be used on sensitive areas, including the bikini line and face. Although it might require additional sessions compared to Alexandrite for complete hair removal, it provides a safer, more tailored solution for diverse skin tones and hair textures.
